Rice Pudding
This is a recipe my mother gave me. It's the

Ingredients
- 1/2 gallon whole milk
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup long grain rice
- 1 egg
- salt
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp vanilla
Steps
- Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan and cook for at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours. At first stir every 10–15 minutes. After it starts to boil, stir most of the time. It will stick and burn if you don't keep stirring. After about 2 hours it should be fairly thick. You probably won't think it is done, but it thickens as it cools.
- Add butter and vanilla. Stir until butter is melted, then pour into a large bowl.
- Optionally sprinkle the top with cinnamon. If you like raisins: put a cup in boiling water for a few minutes, then drain and stir into the pudding while it is cooking.
